Amber Shockey

Amber Shockey is a Partner in the Legal Practice at JM Search, where she advises private equity firms and portfolio companies on building high-performing legal leadership teams. She also advises on broader management team builds, including board, CEO, CFO, CHRO, and CLO/CCO roles.

Amber brings more than two decades of experience spanning law and executive search. She began her career as an attorney with Thompson & Knight in Dallas in 2001 before transitioning to executive search in 2005. Her national practice has been shaped by her experience in two major markets—Texas and the New York–Connecticut region—and serves clients across a broad range of industries, with particular depth in the energy sector. Her work includes searches for publicly traded companies, private equity firms, and their portfolio companies. She is particularly energized by growth-oriented and transformational mandates, where identifying the right leader requires deep market insight, thoughtful assessment, and experienced judgment. Naturally, this translates to working closely with private equity clients to understand their strategic objectives, culture, and leadership needs in support of successful exits.

Amber earned a B.A. in Finance from the University of Oklahoma and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their three daughters, and the family’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Together, they enjoy boating, sailing, paddleboarding, beach days, pickleball, tennis, and traveling, including returning to Dallas to visit friends.
