Jim Ipema

Jim Ipema is a Partner at JM Search and a member of the Firm’s Consumer Practice. He works closely with publicly traded and private equity-backed companies to recruit executives with an exemplary track record within consumer retail, direct-to-consumer and consumer services sectors. Since joining JM Search, Jim has been directly responsible for developing and spearheading the Firm’s commitment to excellence in the consumer retail and multi-unit consumer services industries. With more than 15 years of executive search experience, Jim has successfully placed C-suite, finance, merchandising, sales/marketing, store operations and supply chain leadership roles within the industry’s most dynamic companies. He brings a collaborative and consultative approach to the executive search process. Jim prides himself on providing best-in-class service and exceeding his client’s expectations.​

​Prior to JM Search, he worked as a Vice President and Principal at Slayton Search Partners, a boutique executive search firm in Chicago, where he played a vital role in driving substantial growth within the firm’s Consumer Retail and Direct-To-Consumer Practice. Jim led end-to-end recruiting while assisting the greater organization with implementing top tier executive search methodologies. Earlier in his career, he also worked at executive recruiting firms Spencer Stuart and Kensington International.​

Jim received his Bachelor’s degree from The College of Wooster (Ohio) where he was a member of the men’s golf team. From the Chicago area, Jim presently resides in Lake Forest, Illinois with his wife and three sons. When not serving his clients or spending time with family and friends, Jim enjoys golfing, listening/playing music, running, and cooking.
