Company Challenge
In 2018 Trinity Industries spun off its infrastructure-related business. Since then, the company has focused on operating as an integrated rail manufacturing, leasing, and services company. As the business has continued to transform, the IT function has continued to consolidate its technology and operations functions into a centralized model.
Trinity’s business strategy included significantly increasing usage of data analytics to 1) increase automation in its manufacturing operations, and 2) strategically expand its service offerings. Because any expanded use of technology can bring additional risk, Trinity focused on proactively managing that risk through the organization’s broader enterprise risk program. As such, the company wanted a more center-led enterprise information security program with a proven Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to help guide the organization through its digital journey as securely as possible.
Solution & Results
Trinity selected JM Search’s Security and Risk team as their partner for this critical search assignment. Within just a few weeks, the JM Search team generated a strong candidate pool aligned with the business needs and culture of the company. The select list of candidates came from a wide range of industries, presenting Trinity with a variety of possibilities to consider. Ultimately, the leading candidate was a multi-time enterprise CISO with robust experience in industrial manufacturing and critical infrastructure operating environments. Now more than one year into the new CISO’s tenure, Trinity’s information security and risk management posture is well positioned to continue advancing their use of technology and data analytics to drive the business forward.
