Paul Deegan

Paul Deegan is a Vice President at JM Search and a member of the Firm’s Legal Practice. As a former lawyer and Certified Information Privacy Professional with the U.S. (CIPP/US), he focuses on placing in-house attorneys – primarily General Counsels, Chief Legal Officers, Chief Privacy Officers and their teams. Paul has placed lawyers at some of the best businesses across industries, including technology, life sciences, manufacturing, transportation, fintech, industrial, education, and retail.  Paul’s legal background and  deep industry knowledge make him the ideal recruiter for our clients and candidates.

Prior to joining JM Search, Paul was a retained executive recruiter for Odgers Berndtson and The Lancer Group where he executed and delivered on C-Level private equity-backed searches. He was involved at every level of a search, from researching the target environment to interviewing prospects, and presenting top candidates to clients.Earlier in his career, Paul served as a civil litigator in Ohio. He briefed and argued cases before state appellate courts, federal district courts, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Ohio. He also successfully briefed/defended against the petition for writ of certiorari filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Freshwater v. Mt. Vernon City Sch. Dist. Bd. Of Educ., No. 13-1311.

Paul splits his time between Virginia and Ohio, with regular visits to JMS HQ in King of Prussia, PA. He earned his J.D. from Cleveland State University College of Law where he served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Health and earned the CALI Award (High A) in three courses: Contracts, Corporate Governance, and Law & Economics.
